Learning outcome 5 and 6

Throughout this semester my skills have improved in both citations and local revisions. In high school we would work on citations maybe once at the beginning of the year for our first paper, but never go back over it again unless absolutely necessary. As for local revisions, I had never even heard about this term until this semester. In high school we didn’t separate our revisions into local and global categories. We would just read through our paper and fix mistakes as we saw them which only tended to be spelling mistakes.

Over the course of this semester, I believe my ability to cite sources correctly and properly have gotten a lot better compared to how they used to be. In the beginning of the semester I was struggling because in high school we would mainly just use resources like Easybib that would cite our sources for us. I would be lazy and just copy and paste a weblink rather than going through and manually doing it myself. Citing sources for this Semester helped a lot because the sources I was using weren’t websites and online sources, they were printed off articles and other fellow classmates papers. Each paper we did through this course of this semester helped improve my MLA citations more and more.

When we did our first paper of this semester, you could really tell that I had a lot of spelling mistakes and I had a lot of incorrect sentences and didn’t really notice my errors as much. As we progressed through the semester I as having an easier time spotting the sentence errors and mistakes. When comparing my first essay to my Chosen Work Sample, or even comparing my first draft of my Chosen Work Sample to the final product you can really tell the difference of my ability to revise. Local revisions are also what I focus on when reviewing my peers papers. Overall I think that both my ability to correctly cite has developed along with my ability to locally revise my papers.
