When I first heard about the Corona virus I heard that it was in China and not in the US so we were safe. Boy did that change quickly. As soon as the virus hit the US all that was on the news were updates on which schools were closed, which states it had spread too, and which states were “shutting down.” I feel like procedures to help prevent the spread went into effect pretty fast. It felt like the corona virus was here for about a week and the most states went into some sort of lockdown system. It is good that laws and rules were put into place to prevent the spread but I feel like we could also take actions like this to prevent climate change. I some steps are being taken to fight against climate change but they aren’t being as enforced as they should be. Climate change is almost just as harmful as this virus. If the government set in place more rules for climate change like they have for the Coronavirus, then climate change might have stopped or at least slowed down more. People don’t talk about climate change as much as they do about climate change.

Plans were set in place pretty quickly once the Coronavirus hit the US. The first official Corona death in the US was February 29th. As soon two weeks after that Trump declares a national emergency. Actions to prevent the spread have been more heavily enforced and more people have been more willing and following these rules. With climate change, most people don’t even care about it. There are a lot of people who are trying to help prevent further damage of climate change and trying to keep our planet healthy, but there are still a lot of things we can work on that the government isn’t enforcing or making laws about. I feel like we should equally prioritize the climate change situation to the COVID-19 situation.
