While reading this essay I noticed a lot of what he focused on was the make ups of what our food is made of. So rather than looking at Mac and cheese as pasta and cheese he looked at meals as lipids and carbohydrates and proteins. On page 6 in the last paragraph he talks about what he adds into the drinks in order to achieve the lipids, carbohydrates, and proteins that he wishes to have in the mixture. I might use this in my essay to describe how Rhinehart and I look at “meals” and “food” two different ways.

Another thing I found in this essay that I thought was interesting but I probable won’t use is on page 5 in the second paragraph. The whole paragraph talks about different tv shows that depict “meal pills” and alternative meal options. They mention “The Martian Chronicles”, “The Jetsons”, and “The Soylent Green,” like we discussed in class. It is interesting to me because I’ve never noticed how many movies and shows actually have options similar to this the Soylent drink and meal pills rather than actual food.

On page 14 in paragraph 5, Widdicombe talks about how she got up in the morning after starting the Soylent drink and didn’t have to worry about breakfast or lunch. She mentions she has work she should do, but she doesn’t want to do it. I feel like this might be relevant to my essay because they way she describes it, to me, seems like she would rather make breakfast than do work. Having and making meals gives you a break from your already busy lifestyle. I understand the purpose of the Soylent drink is to cut down on the meal time process, but in my believes it is a good break to have.
